2007 Wharton Fellowship Award Winners
Anora Mahmudova of Financial Times and Paul Grimaldi of The Providence Journal are the 2007 NPF Fellows to the Wharton Seminar for Business Journalists Born in Uzbekistan, Anora Mahmudova came to the United States in 1997 to Pace University NY, to complete the studies in Journalism she had begun at Ferghana and Tashkent Universities. Before joining the Financial Times as the Markets Web Production Editor, she had been a UN and US correspondent for the BBC Central Asian Service, reporting on issues ranging from international diplomacy to cultural events in New York City. She is fluent in Uzbek and Russian as well as English. She lives in the Catskills along with her husband and son.
Paul Grimaldi, a staff writer at The Providence Journal, has spent nearly 20 years writing and editing for newspapers, trade journals and online news sites. During that time he's handled environmental and education issues, covered Congressional races and crime beats, and spent most of the last 10 years writing about business topics, including: banking, casinos, high-technology and venture capital. His primary coverage areas currently include restaurants and retailing. A former board member of the New England Press Association, he holds a bachelor's degree in English from Rhode Island College and a master's degree in journalism from Indiana University. He resides in North Attleboro, Mass., with his wife and two children.
