Kiplinger Seminar Series: "Business Reporting"

A no-cost all-day seminar for journalists organized in collaboration with
The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco

Underwritten by a grant from the Kiplinger Foundation

The University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, one of the world's top business schools, joined with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and the NPF to offer a special one-day seminar on business reporting in downtown San Francisco, March 28, 2005.

There was a high demand for admittance to this program, but the NPF was only able to accept 35 journalists.   They are listed at the bottom of the page.

The seminar was held at Wharton West and at the nearby Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and included a tour of the vault. The seminar including the following presentations:

* Understanding Financial Statements -- John R. Percival, Ph.D., adjunct professor of finance and specialist in executive education, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

* Revenue Sharing: The New Way of Sports Business -- Charles Grantham, former executive director, the National Basketball Players Association; Senior Fellow, Wharton Sports Business Initiative.

* Understanding Economic Indicators -- Gary Zimmerman, Economist, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.  You can find Gary Zimmerman's PowerPoint presentation at the bottom of this page.
