This all-expenses-paid seminar offers basic meteorology, the latest on all types of violent weather, and skills workshops for print, broadcast and web-based coverage. Speakers will include top scientists at the National Weather Center and journalism educators from the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma.
Topics under consideration include:
- Basic Meteorology and Forecasting
- Reporting after the storm
- Severe Weather: Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Fire, Floods and Lightning
- Covering a weather emergency in a New Media World
- Working with emergency management officials
The program will take place April 19-22, 2009 at the National Weather Center, in Norman, Oklahoma. Application deadline: Tuesday, March 3, 2009. To be eligible for the program, you must submit:
